Dating soon after wifes death-part 2.?
Dear Captain Awkward, I am a 34 year old straight woman in an open marriage with a 39 year straight man. I have taken far more advantage of the openness of our marriage than my husband, at least until recently. I have had a string of long-term affairs and short-term flings. During the past 8 months I have basically been living with another man in a neighbouring town to the one I live in. I am drawn to men who are starkly different than my husband, who is an intellectual, moderate in terms of his vices and has a disdain for the type of men who spend every evening in a pub. I have a drinking problem but it is not a problem I feel any need to resolve and I am drawn to men who are also drinkers like me. I can have a glass of wine in the morning and drink until I pass out in the afternoon and wake up when my lover comes home and go to the pub with him and start drinking again. This past Sunday my lover and I went to a country pub and I glanced in the dining room and saw my husband with a beautiful older woman, but not just any woman.

When a couple decides to divorce , one of the issues that will have to be addressed is the division of their property and debt. Generally, the court will resolve this in one of two ways: Equitable Distribution Equitable distribution is considered to be a fair but not always equal distribution of all the marital property and assets.
Typically, the spouse with the higher income will receive a larger portion of the distribution based on the assumption that they contribution more financially to the union. Equitable distributions are used in all states except community property states. Community Property Property is categorized in one of two ways: Separate property consists of property and assets that were acquired prior to the marriage as well as inheritances , personal injury awards and workers compensation, even if it was received during the marriage.
Separate property is not subject to distribution and stays with its original owner. Community property is any property and assets that were acquired during the marriage with the few exceptions noted above and is divided equally between the two parties. Debts Debts are treated in much the same manner as property. However, it is not uncommon for the court to order the higher-earning spouse to pay for certain debts that should theoretically be the responsibility of the lesser-earning spouse.
Is Dating Your Ex-Wifes Friend Crossing The Line ?
He was diagnosed about 7 or 8 years ago, on meds for a while then we just ignored the problem thinking it would go away. Three years ago I left after a very bad manic episode and he would not seek any professional help. When I said I was leaving it turned into an even worse episode that landed him in jail for a DUI I think he was trying to kill himself with the use of the car. I left for two months and he did everything right.
Got help, swore he would stay on meds, let me have my freedom, etc.
7 Crucial Rules for Dating Your Friend’s Ex. By Lindsay King-Miller. Jun 4, Getty In fact, when we met, my now-partner was on a date with my best friend. They dated casually for a few.
A friend told me I should stick it out a while longer since there are benefits to being married ten years or longer. What are those benefits? In some states, such as California, in a marriage of ten years or longer the court retains he right to order that alimony be paid to the lesser-earning spouse for as long as she needs it, if the other spouse has the ability to pay.
If you do not know the rules in your state, you could unintentionally lose your right to alimony. For instance, you and your spouse might negotiate a fixed amount of alimony for a set period. If your settlement agreement designates that the alimony is non-modifiable, the court will not retain the right to extend alimony beyond the time specified, even if your marriage was longer than ten years.
Similarly, you and your spouse may include a mutual waiver of alimony in your divorce agreement. A ten-year marriage is also considered to be a long-term marriage by the Social Security Administration. Those derivative benefits are equal to one-half the amount your former spouse is eligible to collect, based on his earnings over his entire career, including the year after your marriage was dissolved.
If you are divorcing a person with great future earnings potential, consider sticking it out a little longer or delay finalizing the divorce until after the ten-year mark. Ten years is also important if your spouse is in the military and will be eligible for retirement pay. If you were married for at least ten years while he was on active duty, you will qualify for direct enforcement, which means your portion of retirement pay will be paid directly to you by the military finance office.

He understands this and know to keep his distance on certain days. I do not feel guilty about finding someone very special so soon, it was not my intention to get involved that soon, however, how could i pass up on this wonderful man, Fate brought into my life. I had two children from my first marriage, and my finace has been a wonderful father to them, they deserve to have a father in their lives not just on pictures.
